About SLBMI
We
offer comprehensive treatment plans to meet
the individual needs of children, adolescents,
adults, older adults, and their families
suffering from emotional and behavioral
problems.
Founded
in 1995, Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine
Institute has become an established resource
for mental health care within the City of
St. Louis, as well as providing primary
mental health care treatment and general
counseling in two additional locations throughout
the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
Range
of Services:
Patients
and their families interact with our professional
team and work together to identify problems
and formulate individual treatment plans,
with rapid step-down to less intensive outpatient
services on Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine
Institutes continuum of services.
We
are especially proud of our nationally recognized
programs i.e. Anxiety
Disorders Program, The Psychology
and Religion Program, Headache
and Pain Management Program, and Eating
Disorders Program. We are excited to offer additional services through our two new divisions, our Forensic Evaluation Division and our Nutrition and Weight Management Division.
The
Institute is an academic affiliate of Saint
Louis University Health Sciences Center.
Our faculty and staff support the academic
mission of the University in many ways.
We are frequent contributors to professional
journals and regularly participate at professional
meetings. Additionally, we support the University
in the advanced training of family practice
residents, psychologists, social workers,
and medical students.
Saint
Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute is part
of Universal Health Services, Inc; one of
the largest national providers of high-quality
healthcare.
At
Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute,
our most valuable assets are the professional
staff and physicians who work as a multi-disciplinary
team to treat the individual needs of the
patients we serve.
The
medical staff is comprised of Medical Doctors
and Psychiatrists, with specialized training
and certifications in child to older adult
psychiatry. The licensed staff is comprised
of the following: psychologists, social
workers, counselors, spiritual directors,
certified addiction counselors, registered
nurses, art therapists, physical therapists,
and Dietitians.
Over
40 licensed staff members provide the Institute
an integrated base of knowledge from both
the behavioral and medical sciences. These
professionals collaborate as a treatment
team within the Institute and in conjunction
with "outside" referral professionals
and organizations.
Family/Patient
participation is important. We depend on
the patients and their families to interact
with the professional team, working toward
a common goal of wellness.
