    Chronic Pain

    Pain is a feeling set off in the nervous system. Acute pain lets you know that you may be injured or a have problem you need to take care of, but chronic pain is different. Chronic pain signals may continue for long periods of time – weeks, months, or even years. 

    Problems that cause chronic pain can include:

    Chronic pain usually cannot be cured; however, treatments can help. Treatments such as medicines, acupuncture, electrical stimulation and surgery, as well as psychotherapy, relaxation and meditation therapy, biofeedback, and behavior modification are often used.
