    Dr. Alec Pollard will be speaking on “Strategies for Treatment-Resistance and Refusal: New Applications of Cognitive-Behavioral Models” at the annual meeting of the Missouri Psychological Association. The meeting will be held this year in St. Louis.

    June 5th, 2015

    Dr. Laura Huff and Dr. Melanie VanDyke will both be speaking at the 2015 Missouri Psychological Association Conference (MOPA). Dr. Huff will be speaking on “Eating Disorders Across the Life-Span” while Dr. Melanie VanDyke will be speaking on “CBT in the Treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder.” The meeting will be held this year in St. Louis from June 5th to June 6th, 2015.

    Join the SLBMI’s Eating Disorder Program team in the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) Walk in St. Louis to raise awareness about eating disorders and support for early intervention. The walk will be held in Tilles Park in St. Louis on Saturday, June 20th, 2015, at 9:00 AM.

    Dr. Alec Pollard will provide a lecture for the medical students at Saint Louis University on the identification and management of anxiety disorders in patients that present in primary care and other medical settings.

    May 30th and May 31st, 2015

    Dr. Alec Pollard will speak on the treatment of Body Dysmorphic Disorder in children and adolescents and lead a breakout group to teach case formulation and treatment planning for pediatric OCD-Related Disorders. His work will be part of the Pediatric Behavior Therapy Training Institute sponsored by the International OCD Foundation. The program will be conducted at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, WI.

    April 9th – 12th, 2015

    Dr. Pollard to speak at national meeting in Miami
    Dr. Alec Pollard will be speaking at the annual meeting of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America to be held in Miami, FL from April 9 – 12.
    One of his talks will describe a new treatment approach to help families of treatment-refusers. He will also participate in a clinical roundtable discussing complicated clinical cases. The workshop is for mental health professionals.

    April 24th _  26th, 2015

    Dr. Pollard will conduct training program in OCD treatment
    Dr. Alec Pollard will serve as the Clinical Chair and a faculty member for the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) to be held in Houston, TX on April 24 – 26.
    The BTTI is sponsored by the International OCD Foundation and is designed to train mental health therapists in evidenced-based treatment for OCD and related disorders.

    Pastoral Interventions and Approaches for Parishioners Struggling with Pornography Use

    A workshop for clergy and other parish ministers on how to effectively respond as pastoral caregivers when members of the church seek counsel for issues related to pornography use. Featuring: Dr. Susanne Harvath, Director of Psychological Services and Professor of Pastoral Counseling at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary; Rev. James Mason, recently named rector of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary; Dr. Bruce Hartung, Psychologist and Professor Emeritus at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and Dr. Christopher Grimes, Psychologist and Director of the Program for Psychology and Religion at SLBMI.
