Foot
and Knee Pain / Plantar Fasciitis
Many problems begin with the feet. Everyone is born flat-footed, but when babies begin to walk, some don't develop strong foot muscles or “normal” gait mechanics. People who remain flat-footed create foot and ankle strain, and set themselves up for later knee problems and wear-and-tear of the knees and hips. In addition, pregnancy or "extra pounds" can contribute to plantar fasciitis and general foot strain.
Thorough medical and physical therapy evaluations coupled with pelvic correction, exercise, gait work and shoe inserts (orthoses) can improve foot mechanics and reduce symptoms, preventing progressive involvement of hips, pelvis, spine and neck. Best results are obtained by close collaboration between the Medical Doctor, podiatrist and physical therapist.
