Mary E. Fox, MD
Co-Medical Director, Pain Management
Program, Psychology and Religion Program
Office Location: St. Louis
Dr. Mary
Fox attended medical school at the University of
Missouri--Columbia. She did her Family Medicine
internship at the Medical University of South Carolina
and 2 years of residency in Family Practice at Duke
University Medical Center. She has been a Diplomate of
the American Board of Family Medicine since 1987 and is
board eligible for the American Board of Hospice and
Palliative Medicine. In 2009, Dr. Fox was appointed
Co-Medical Director of the SLBMI Pain Management
Program.
Dr. Fox has been a family physician in the St. Louis
area for over 20 years. Her interest in applied
noninvasive pain management led her to become the
director of a hospice for 4 years and then to join SLBMI.
Because of her wide range of training and experience in
Family Medicine, she sees every patient’s primary care
doctor as key to properly diagnosing and evaluating the
patient. She has worked with many subspecialists and
greatly values their input on these often complicated
patients. All referring physicians are welcomed to
contact Dr. Fox with any questions or concerns.
The most rewarding aspect of this practice for Dr. Fox
is helping patients have a better understanding of their
illness and working with them to find new strategies for
treatment and coping with chronic pain. She finds the
multidisciplinary approach available to chronic pain
patients at SLBMI very innovative. The Institute offers
such treatment modalities as behavioral modification,
physical therapy, psychological counseling, and
biofeedback on site.
