take a holistic perspective on client care. He suggests
that his way of working with clients is structured
according to what in the psychological literature has
been called “practice based evidence.” What this means
is that he requests and values feedback from clients
during almost every session about their perception of
the outcome of therapeutic work together and about how
they see the therapeutic relationship. With the client
Dr. Whitmire evaluates his or her responses and
determines the appropriateness of current treatment, the
need for further treatment, and whether a clinical
consultation is needed if a client is not progressing at
an expected rate. In other words, he uses systematic
client feedback to tailor treatment and individualize
therapy in order to increase therapeutic effectiveness.
