Deborah P. Stutsman, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, BFA
Ms. Stutsman is a Board Certified Registered Art
Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor working in
the Psychology and Religion Program. She uses
art therapy
in group and individual work to help clients represent,
understand and work through their emotional conflicts,
limitations and dysfunctional behavior, and most
importantly, to visualize their hopes and dreams in
order that they live life as fully as possible. Art
therapy, as distinct from other therapy modalities, is
active and experiential and focuses on the special
language of the image, as it is produced by the
client using art materials, or as it appears in dreams.
She believes that image-making of all kinds frees
energy, and promotes creativity and our innate ability
to heal, grow and bring our special gifts to life.
Art therapy is appropriate for all ages of clients, and
no previous art experience is necessary. Deborah is an
artist and has over twenty-five years interest and
experience in the psychology of Carl Jung and depth
Analytic Psychology. She is currently training to become
a Jungian analyst. She has been a member of the SLBMI
Psychology and Religion team since 2001. She offers
workshops and study groups on creativity and aspects of
faith and the spiritual journey. Deborah served as
the President of the C. G. Jung Society of Saint Louis
for 6 years and is currently on their Board.
