Martha P. Vatterott, RD, LD
Martha Vatterott is a registered clinical Dietitian. She received her B.S. in Medical Dietetics from the University of Missouri-Columbia, 1980 and has been registered with The American Dietetic Association since 1980. Martha is a licensed Dietitian with the State of Missouri. Through licensure (2001), registered Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals qualified to practice nutrition counseling. She has recently acquired the certification of Adult Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association. Martha has been counseling clients with a variety of modified diets for 25 years.
Counseling sessions include a nutrition history, assessment and nutrition education. Each diet is individualized to the client's food preferences and lifestyle to promote compliance.
The Medifast Diet Plan, a medically supervised protein sparing modified fast is also available. Clients must be medically supervised. The Plan consists of five Medifast meals per day and one evening meal of meat and vegetables. A weight loss of about five pounds per week is average. The Plan can be followed for up to 16 weeks. Weekly or bi-weekly visits with Martha will cover Nutrition Education and Behavior Modification. Her goal is to teach clients how to eat for the rest of their life. A "Lifestyles" book through Medifast is required ($12). After desired weight loss is achieved, clients will be "transitioned" back to real food.
