Niemiec, PsyD
Dr.
Niemiec is a clinical psychologist. He specializes in
a mind-body approach focusing on helping clients gain
greater awareness of the mutual interaction of body
(sensations, posture, body structure, physiological
processes) and mind (thoughts, beliefs, values, emotions
and behaviors). This approach is oriented toward that
of "healing," integration and "management"
of symptoms and difficulties rather than "quick
fixes" or "cures." He empowers the individual
to access their own unique healing abilities. This helps
the person gain greater insight, improve their coping
ability, feel more confidence and go on to make important
changes in their lives. Clients gain tremendously from
learning relaxation strategies, self-hypnosis and mindfulness
meditation, the art of learning to "be" in
the present moment. It is an approach that he uses with
a variety of patient groups including headache, chronic
pain, and strees-related conditions. He also works closely
with patients in the psychology and religion program.
In various community settings he teaches clients, students,
and therapists how to benefit from this multifaceted
approach.
