The Eating Disorders Program at SLBMI offers the following new services at the Chesterfield office located at 16216 Baxter Rd. Ste. 399:
Summer therapeutic lunch support– Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12-1 p.m.
Clients bring a meal (per their meal plan) to a pro-recovery environment.
Fee: $15 per day. “Reservations” required by calling (636)532-9188. Appropriate for clients with Anorexia, Bulimia or Binge Eating.
Begins June 2, 2009.
New Weekly Eating Disorders Recovery Group facilitated by
Cathy Lander-Goldberg, MSW, LCSW. Tuesday evenings 5-6 p.m. Clients should contact Ms. Lander-Goldberg prior to attending the group at (636)532-9188 Ext. 712. Appropriat e for clients with Anorexia and Bulimia ages 14 and older. Begins May 26, 2009.
New Weekly Compulsive Overeating Group facilitated by
Geeta Aatre-Prashar. Psy.D. Wednesday evenings 6-7 p.m.
Appropriate for clients with Binge Eating or compulsive overeating ages 17 and above. Clients should contact Dr. Aatre-Prashar prior to attending the group at (636)532-9188 Ext. 707.

Institute to Host Talk on Resistant Anxiety
SLBMI will sponsor a talk for St. Louis area mental health clinicians entitled, Resistance to Change in Anxiety Disorders: Helping Patients Modify Treatment-Interfering Behavior. Dr. Alec Pollard will be the speaker. He will discuss his work on this subject and related services his program has developed for patients who are treatment-reluctant. Dr. Pollard to speak at the National Kidney Foundation Meeting
Dr. will be providing an overview on the nature and treatment of anxiety disorders for a gathering of social workers and other professionals who work with patients suffering from kidney disease. The meeting will be held in St. Louis at the Embassy Suites Airport Hotel on May 14th, 2009.

Did you know that 2/3 of people are trying to lose
weight but only 20% are actually doing what they need
to do?
SLUCare's Weight Management Program is off and
running! This is a rotating 12-week class that teaches
important topics for managing weight and improving
health.
Examples of topics include: Improving motivation; goal-setting to make changes; managing one's eating
environment; stress & emotional eating; healthy eating
for life; exercise and movement; how thinking can help
or hurt you; hunger and satiety cues. Mindful eating
is practiced during several of the classes.
When? Thursdays from 5:30pm - 6:45pm
Where? SLUCare at Des Peres' Primary Care & Prevention Center, located at 2325 Dougherty Ferry, Suite 100,
just west of 270.
Who? Adults who are overweight or obese.
Cost? $250 for the 12-week series of classes. Meetings with the physician and behavioral health consultant are billed to insurance.

management program. They will schedule you for a
back-to-back meeting with the physician. Then you can begin the program any Thursday!

Hoarding Group Therapy Time Has Changed
Dr. Betty Horng will now be leading the Hoarding Group Therapy sessions, which will be held on Wednesday nights from 5:00-6:30pm.

Integrated Care in St. Louis Continues!
The integrated care project, developed by Drs. Margolis, Pollard, and Niemiec, will continue through August 2009. Through funding by the Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundation, this 3-year grant has been extended to a 4th year. Drs. Niemiec and Aatre are available as behavioral health consultants to any patient that meets with one of the primary care physicians of SLUCare at the Primary Care & Prevention Center.
