    Work Injuries

A work injury may be a single specific injury which quickly and easily resolves, or it may be a chronic or recurrent problem that lasts for months or years, preventing a worker from completing his or her job.

St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute’s Physical Therapy Department has extensive experience in work comp case management and understands the challenge of treating both acute injuries and long-standing cases.  The program starts with a thorough physical therapy assessment to identify the injury sustained and work limitations experienced by the employee.  During treatment, patients are expected to be active participants in their rehabilitation program. Therapy may include skilled manual work, muscle balancing exercises, conditioning and strengthening exercises, work-specific functional rehab and modalities as needed.  The worker will be educated in relaxation, breathing, self-treatment, coping mechanisms, posture, biomechanics and work issues.
